Vocational Interest,
Temperament and Aptitude System
| VITAS provides
attractive, job-like work samples which capture the interest of individuals who have
experienced frustration or failure with traditional test-taking methods. VITAS consists of 22 work samples that represent
Work Groups identified in the Guide for Occupational Exploration. Each sample
affords a client the opportunity to perform a task which is identical or similar to a
real-life job experience. Modern industrial, office or scientific equipment is used to
simulate a work situation. Critical work performance and behavior can be observed and
documented in order to identify an individuals capabilities and opportunities for
employment success. Most samples require no reading, but when written material is part of
the task the reading level does not exceed the sixth grade level.
VITAS takes only 2 1/2 days to administer
and was designed to efficiently and effectively evaluate groups of individuals while
providing comprehensive vocational information about each one. Successfully implemented in
vocational education, special education, rehabilitation and medical facilities, the VITAS
system is still the standard for comparing work quality and production speed against adult
and/or adolescent norm bases.
For those wishing to add to an existing
evaluation program or who are interested in a more narrow focus, VITAS Clusters offer
smaller groupings of five to ten interrelated samples. The Clusters afford the same
advantages as VITAS without the necessity of purchasing the entire system. |
